Professional VisionCare’s Finance Department is in charge of the super important responsibilities that keep the company’s finances running smoothly. Whenever a patient comes in for an appointment, we bill the patient’s vision plan and/or insurance company for the services and materials the patient received. The Finance team makes sure that those claims we bill are 100% accurate, and then they transmit those claims to the insurance companies. Once the insurance company responds to the claim (called an EOB or “Explanation of Benefits”), the finance team posts the payment from the insurance company and updates the patients chart/ledger to reflect what the insurance company paid. If there is any balance that the patient still owes, the finance department sends statements to the patient in an attempt to collect payment. After 3 statements and collections rescue attempts, if the patient has not paid their balance on their account, the finance team facilitates sending that patient’s account to a reputable collections agency. The finance team also handles a variety of other “finance” related tasks, such as daily closing out, tracking Prokera authorizations and payments, and more!
