pulling vision benefits is often done for you by the pr team. However, There are times where it may be your responsibility to pull the Patient’s plan.
Sometimes PR does not have all the information necessary to find the patient’s benefits and are not able to get ahold of them. The patient may come out to you after their exam and say they have vision benefits. At that time, It is your responsibility to search the 3 vision benefits we accept to see if you can find their plan. The Insurance Flow Chart below is a document that PR uses and includes the search methods for vision benefit plans.
Once you find the plan you will need to add it to the patient’s demographic screen in Eyecare. You may also find yourself needing to add a medical plan to the patient’s information. One note when searching for patient’s vision plans; you may notice that the patient has more than one plan. Pull authorizations for ALL plans necessary!
