Welcome to Professional VisionCare’s EYEWEAR STYLIST/OPTICIAN Training Program!
Over the next few weeks, you will build on your knowledge to learn all of the responsibilities and tasks of an eyewear stylist by completing all of the modules in this training. As a heads up, this is a lot of information! But you were hand selected for this role because we are confident that you are going to be an extraordinary eyewear stylist for our company! Be patient with yourself as you go through each module, and take your time to really let the information sink in, as “skimming” through it will only handicap your training. Throughout the training, you will see the term “Optician” in regards to this position-this is another term for your new position as an eyewear stylist! What’s the difference between the 2 positions? Nothing at Professional VisionCare, however, we are legally required to reserve the title of “Optician” for those who have completed their state licensing. With time, you will be able to apply for that license, but until then, your position with our company is an “Eyewear Stylist.” The good news is that this module training is the same for both licensed opticians AND eyewear stylists who are just starting in the optical career-so be sure to pay attention, and if you see something labeled as “Optician”-its for Eyewear Stylists to learn as well!
How does this training work?
Refer to the schedule you receieved from your manager. This will have all the modules you need to work on each day of your training!
Each training module has a written training and a checkpoint quiz. You should always start with the written training, and then click on the link to complete the checkpoint quiz. Try to complete the quiz without looking over any training resources-no cheating! :D These quizzes are a tool to see how much you retained from the training. You can pull up the answer sheet in the module to grade your own test-but only after you have completed the quiz. You will be responsible to grade your own tests for each module (unless you are training with another optician, then you can ask them to grade it while you grade theirs). If you get less than 90% of the questions correct on the quizzes, please re-do the entire module—remember the point is to learn this stuff so you can be super successful!
Some modules also have an additional training activities (such as making flash cards) for you to complete as well. These are to provide opportunities to further your training outside of the module format.
Lastly, once you are finished with all of the modules, you will complete the “Practice Makes Perfect” module, which is simply all of the checkpoint quizzes and a few practice scenarios. Your training schedule can be modified if you need more time with these modules, just let Anna know.
Are you ready to begin? Let’s get started!!!
